Former Syria captain Ahmed Al-Saleh has been banned from playing football for life by the country's football authorities .

According to the BBC, the player kicked, insulted and spat at the referee in a top league match of Syria on Friday last week.
He was immediately sent off on the day of the match. The Syrian Football Federation's disciplinary committee also fined the player and Al-Jaish, the club whose player Also played. The Syrian Football Federation claimed that Al-Saleh continued to insult the referee in the locker room after the match.
